Carole Carlson

Dr. Carole Carlson directs the research and education program of the Dolphin Fleet and is an Adjunct Scientist at the Provincetown Center for Coastal Studies and College of the Atlantic, Bar harbor Maine, USA. Dr. Carlson has extensive humpback, blue, right and sperm whale photo-identification experience and for the past 30 years has studied large cetaceans off the east coast of the United States, Puerto Rico, Brazil, Chile, the Dominican Republic and the Eastern Caribbean. She has organized 5 international workshops on various aspects of whalewatching, worked actively on the promotion of the SPAW Protocol of the Cartegena Convention of the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) and helped to draft its Marine Mammal Action Plan. Through the International Whaling Commission and the College of the Atlantic, she helped to establish an international, collaborative catalogue for Antarctic humpback whales.
